Printing issues!

When a user attempts to print a PDF from Acrobat DC, the print progress bar does not appear, the print dialogue box closes but no print file is sent to the printer queue. This is happing intermittently through our entire org. The only "fix" that works is to delete and reinstall the printers.

Evironment:

Windows 10 Enterprise version 1709

Adobe reader DC fully patched

Windows 2012 print server

I have read all the threads on here about the same issue and none of the suggested fixes work. Any suggestions?

I get attachments in PDF files. I open those and I need to print. I click the printer it opens the window for the printer. instead of print option it show me to save. It does not print or gives me the option to print. if i save and then print it again opens window to print but the highlight is to save. On the Top left hand is print but instead of the button saying print it says SAVE. I am using windows 7. and have acrobat xi pro. and acrobat reader DC. I cannot find help on the net. Please advise what should i do to resolve this problem. I also have quicken it did not print my report. I upgraded to Quicken printer it installed PDF Amyuni. I am confused. I think this problem started after. i may be wrong.

Hi Fernslinger,

Thanks for trying the steps.

Could you please try repairing Acrobat and check if that resolves the issue? Launch Acrobat > click Help menu > Repair Installation.

Reboot the machine after repair and check.

We have tried that on the affected machines and it did not help. I have text logs of print logging from Acrobat too if you want them.

We tried both suggestions and it had no effect on our issue. Our version is DC Version 2018.009.20050. I have even uninstalled and then installed Adobe reader 11 with no change. Printing still works in other apps, Word, Excel, etc. but no pdf will print until the printers are removed and reinstalled.

Hi Fernslinger,

Please try following troubleshooting steps:

1- Print PDF as image and see if that works- Print PDF as image | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

2- If that doesn't work, try disabling protected mode and see if that helps - launch Reader > click Edit > Preferences > Security ( Enhanced) > uncheck the box next to Enable protected mode at startup, relaunch Reader and try printing again.

Please note: Disabling protected mode is for troubleshooting purpose only. Enable protected mode when troubleshooting is complete.

Also, would you mind sharing Acrobat Reader DC's version installed on the machine? To check the version in Reader: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Does printing works when users prints from other applications?

Thank You,

Shivam
