Printing Problem - grey tinted background

When I print a .pdf from adobe acrobat DC, I am getting a grey tinted background on the page.  When i print the same document from a  different pdf software, I do not get the grey background. (so it is not a printer problem) Any idea what that is and how to correct it?  It is as though there is a grey watermark across the entire page.

Is the document a scanned to PDF document?

Yes.  This does not happen with word documents converted to pdf in adobe.  The only catch is that it happens with scanned documents regardless of where they were scanned.  So if I get emailed a scanned document from a client, it will do it just the same as if I scan the page myself on a local scanner.

I will try and upload an example of what I am talking about when I can.

Scanned files may have a grey background that you have difficulties to see, but the printer may print some stronger grey for those pages.

Please upload a sample file, so that I can look at it. You need to upload to wetransfer or dropbox an share the link.
