Printing with Cut Marks on Poster

Explorer ,
Jun 15, 2025 Jun 15, 2025

Something has changed and I do not have a soluton. Please advise. I have created created posters of 24" x 30" (to be printed on 8.5" x 11"). I print these via the "Poster" in the Page Sizing & Handling, set the Overlap to 0.25, click on Cut marks and Print. This has always provide great cut marks on top of the image, allowing me to splice together for creating the 24" x 30" poster. But now, the cut marks are only appearing out side the image, and no longer apear on top of the image. (I do have a final trim box inside the full poster) Print drivers are up to date as is the software. Please advise.

Hi Daniel M Schwartz,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please let us know if this happens with a particular PDF or with all. If it is an issue with a specific file, it can be because of how it was created. Also, could you check the PDF page size? There is a possibility that there is white space along with the image on that page.

Did you create the PDF? Could you share the PDF so we can check? Please share the Acrobat and OS version you use on the machine.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi Meenakshi,

I created the PDF document from InDesign 20.3.1 in macOS 15.5. The page size is 20" x 31". PDF document is sent to an Epson ET-3830 and printed on 8.5" x 11" plain paper with the Overlap set at 0.25. The cut mark setting works great in the past, allowing me to trim/splice together the single sheet to make my final large poster.  I ran an additional test to discover the same file printed from a Windows 11 system, all same setting, DID print the cut marks. I am thinking the macOS driver needs to be updated in the macOS, is there a way to check the version of the driver? Attach you will find a screen capture of with and without cut mark and the actual PDF document.

Was there a resolution to this issue? I am having the same problem, it has always worked fine until about 3 months ago, and now it is almost impossible to accurately cut and line up the invididiaul pages as the cut marks do not print on each page of the poster.  Thanks

Hi Charlotte, Have not resolve the issue on the Apple platform. The timing for your issue seem to be about the time my issue appeared, making me think a software change was applied and is the at the root of the issue. My work around, is to print the PDF document from a Windows plateform. The cut marks appears as they should, alowing me to complete the projects.
