Problem Adding Bates Numbers

I am having trouble adding bates numbers to one of my files.  I keep getting an error message indicating "This direct object already has a container."  It only numbers about 25% of the file and then quits, giving the error message.  I've tried optimizing the file, removing headers and footers, but nothing seems to be working.

Hi BragawR

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you are getting the error 'This direct object already has a container' when applying bates numbering.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and reboot the computer once and see if that works for you.

Also, please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described in the help page - https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792... and see if that makes any difference.

Also please check out the steps shared in the correct answer marked in a similar discussion https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/need-help-with-error-of-this-object-already-has-a-container-q...  and see if that works for you.

Regards

Amal
