Question

Protected files can't be sent for comments, even though commenting is allowed in security settings

I created a PDF form of a letter we send often. I password protected it to prevent against accidental edits. The security settings are set to allow for filling of form fields, commenting and signing.

I am able to fill/comment/sign but I get an error when trying to share the document. "Protected documents can't be sent for comments."

I have tried rebooting and repaired the installation.

Just send it yourself, instead of via the application. Create an email and attach the file to it.

Yep, that was the answer.

The  reason the Collaboration won't work with a protected file is because it has to change the document metadata.

Password protection is not allowed, so there is nothing you can do about it. But maybe there is something else you can do.

What kind of accidental edits are you protecting against?
