Question

Protected mode in Acrobat DC

I've just enabled the Protected Mode as Adobe recommends to do on a Facebook post, but noticed that Acrobat takes a little longer to open any file. It almost seems like the program closes after double clicking, but then the file opens anyway.

Is it a normal behaviour? Is it due to the sandobx where documents and application codes are isolated in?

Hi Alberton

We are sorry for the toruble. As described its taking time to open the PDF files

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try to open a different file and check

Is the PDF file stored locally on your computer or is is on a shared network/drive? Please try to download the files to your compouter and try to open with Acrobat DC.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Adobe Acrobat DC and make sure you have the latest version 20.009.20067. go to Help > Check for Updates.

For more information about the protected mode please refer to the help page Protected Mode troubleshooting | Adobe Reader

Let us know how it goes.

Regards

Amal

Hi Amal,

this behaviour occurs with any PDF file, both stored locally and on a shared network.

I'm using the latest version of Acrobat DC (2020.009.20067) on my two PCs, both running Windows 10 (x64).

As regards the Antivirus softwares, I use Norton on one PC and TrendMicro on the other one.

Regards

Alberton

We are sorry for the delay in response.

Please try to repair the installation and see if that makes any difference. Go to Help > Repair Installation.

Also, please try to disable the protected mode for testing. Go to Edit > Preferences > Enhanced Security  > Turn off the protected and uncheck the enhanced security > Click OK
Note: Please turn oin the security after testing
