"adobe application manager is missing or damaged"?

New Here ,
Aug 30, 2017 Aug 30, 2017

I have a copy of Acrobat Standard DC (2015) purchased with my Dell computer in December. When I started up this morning, I got a message "Error 28000: Installation of Acrobat Licensing Module has failed." I went into Arobat, which said "Installation Problem - IMSLib not found". I also got a message "Adobe Application Manager, required to verify your license, is missing or damaged. Please download a copy of AAM from www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager".

And the update failed (error 28000 - and directed me to rollback options).

That link takes me to CC desktop, and I tried installing that program, which resulted in a "failed to insatll - error code 50" message.

I tried installing the latest update from inside Adobe, but got "

What next? I tried renaming the OOBE folder in program files (x86)/common files/adobe but it says a file is in use (everything is closed and I shut down any adobe background tasks I could find (one by one)).

Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly!

BTW, I just found AAM at your site, downloaded it, and ran it, but got a

message that the installer failed to initialize.

I have been happily using Acrobat DC since I got it installed by Dell with

my Dell laptop in December.

Does that change your suggestions at all? Can I still re-install it from

your site?

Harold

Hi Haroldf,

Please close all the running Adobe process in the background from Task manager, then use Adobe Acrobat cleaner tool to remove Acrobat DC and Reader installed: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Restart your computer, and then try to reinstall the Acrobat DC: Download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC, 2017, XI, or X

Keep us posted with the results.

Oops - I only selected to remove Acrobat but not Reader, as you instructed.

I will try again!

Not good - removed both reader and acrobat dc, restarted, ran the acrobat

dc installation, and it failed again.

What else can you try??

Harold

All this does is offer me an opportunity to BUY cloud software, while all I want is to download Adobe Application Manager.  Adobe will not allow me to download ANY program updates for Acrobat DC until I get the App Mgr.
