"Raise without handler" when combining files from windows file explorer

New Here ,
Jun 20, 2024 Jun 20, 2024

I am having issues on multiple computer. we are getting the error "Raise without Handler" when we try to combine the 2 pdf's together. in file explorer with preview enabled.

I have reinstalled acrobat multiple times and getting the same issue.

I have moved the accesibility pluging out of the plugin folder but still getting the issue.

only fix i found was to change the preview handler in file explorer via regedit

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\ShellEx\{8895b1c6-b41f-4c1c-a562-0d564250836f}

changed the default value to whatever the MS pdf handler is in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PreviewHandlers

from the computers i worked on

adobe handlers   {DC6EFB56-9CFA-464D-8880-44885D7DC193}

msPDFHandler  {3A84F9C2-6164-485C-A7D9-4B27F8AC009E}

problem with this workaround is adobe keeps changing it back  after 1-3 days

anybody know a permanent fix or stopping adobe from changing the handler?

computer has the lastest windows update and adobe acrobat pro subcription is on the latest version update

Hi @Yohan37739004iwtv

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that

Is this an issue with a particular set of PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different set of PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the OS and the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.20857 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau... and see if that works.

Good Afternoon, Has this issue been fixed, if so which version is this fixed on? I'm on version 24.002.20759 and I am experiencing it with Explorer preview pane being turned on.

If you haven't already found the fix. Uninstall Adobe Acrobat application, reinstall Acrobat and restart desktop/Laptop. It worked for me. Good luck
