Question

"Select a Microsoft Sensitivity Label" button is greyed out in Adobe Acrobat Pro (Creative Cloud)

We have recently deployed Adobe Acrobat Pro (Creative Cloud, version 23.008.20533) to some people at our org.

An issue has arisen, in which the "Select a Microsoft Sensitivity Label" button is greyed out (it is still present under the File > Protect PDF > Select a Microsoft Sensitivity Label section, just cannot be pressed), why is this?

The "Enable Microsoft Purview Information Protection" setting is enabled under Preferences  > Security, so that suggests that it should work.

Since the button is present, but not able to be interacted with, that suggests to me that the feature is enabled, but the labels themselves are not compatible with Acrobat Pro. I have seen in other documentation and community posts that this feature is a protective feature primarily, as:

- It appears under the Protect settings

- In this community page (Sensitivity labels not showing in pdf - Adobe Community - 13964717)

, one of the responses provided states "if your admin has created labels with pre-defined permissions, you can use these labels on your acrobat documents"

Does this mean that only sensitivity labels that have protective abilities are compatible with acrobat pro? All of our labels just have classification capabilities (apply headers and footers), but they do not apply any protective controls. Could this be the reason that the button is greyed out?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to keep you waiting.

I have checked the option at my end and its working as expected. Please update the application to the new version 24.01.20604 from the help menu > Check for updates and reboot the computer once and check if that works.

Let us know how it goes.
