"The document could not be saved" error - Acrobat for Mac

Explorer ,
Jun 06, 2024 Jun 06, 2024

I'm using Acrobat Pro 2020 for Mac, Mac OS Sonoma 14.5.  I am trying to add information to a document that is a fillable form, part of which was filled out already by an employee (but not signed). I have added info but now when I try to save, I get the error "The document could not be saved. The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."

Trying Save-As gets no result; in fact the option is greyed out. I'm attaching photos of the greyed out menu option and the error message.  I am having this issue with two different forms that I have open right now.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the OS and the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.20857 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also, try to download the PDF file to your computer locally and try again and see if that helps.
