Question

"There was a RAISE without a handler. The application will now exit"

Acrobat immediately quits, giving me this error message, every single time I open it. I've seen other people are having the same issue, but the response/answer every time is 'update Acrobat', and I'm already on the most current, fully up-to-date version.

This is ridiculous. I can't use the app at all. I need to use this app for work. Sort this mess out Adobe.

Hi,

Let's see if we can get your Acrobat up amd running before Christmas Eve.

Here are a few suggestions:

  • Just for troubleshooting purposes uninstall the CC Desktop app. You may need to use the Creative Cloud Cleanup Tool and check how the Acrobat behaves without the CC app running in the background
  • If the suggestion above results in no relevance, verify your macOS extensions; you need to identify if security settings have changed; enable or disable mac extensions that appear suspicious
  • If your Acrobat continues to misbehave then boot in safe mode. Your Acrobat should open without closing and this will give you a chanve to use the "Repair Installation" found in the Help menu. Reboot and check again.
  • If up to this point none of tje suggestions above worked, then download and run the Adobe Acrobat Cleanup and Repair Tool to completely remove old traces of your current  version: https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Hi,

Can you please tell me if there is any third party plugin installed on your system?

If yes, then please provide me the details of those plugins to see where the actual problem is.

Thanks

Exact the same problem for me: I can't start adobe acrobat anymore, it crashes every time after about 1 sec.

I reinstalled Acrobat, but it didn't help.

MacBookPro 15-inch 2017, 3,1 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM

Hi,

If this happening with just one file or with every PDF document you open with Acrobat?

what version of Acrobat are you using and what is the operating system?

It's every PDF, and also when opening Acrobat from the dock without opening a PDF. I'm on the current version of Acrobat (CC app is offering no updates) and I'm on Mac.
