Re-pagination Issues: Adobe Acrobat X

Hello

I am trying to repaginate a PDF in Adobe Acrobat X. I'm essentially trying to have page 3 start as page 1. It's not working. Here's what I'm doing so far:

1) Click the Page Thumbnails icon

2) In the left hand page column, right-click on the page.

3) Select "Number Pages"

4) Click the "From" radio button. Change the page range from 3 to 172 to 1 to 172 (or 170).

5) Click OK.

The page number does not change.

Any thoughts?

OK. I tried one more thing, but it had to be completed manually. I right-clicked on the penultimate page, click "Number Pages," then selected "Extend numbering used in preceding section to selected pages." That seemed to work, but I feel like that's just a stopgap workaround. I'll keep working on this. Thanks!

You can't do that. Each page must have a unique label.

What do you mean? I just did that. And it worked.

Update so far: as a workaround (this needs to bec completed quickly):

I clicked page 1 and renumbered from 1 to 2. Then, I clicked page 3 and renumbered starting page 1. The only problem is that the last two pages are now starting at page 1. I tried to manually correct it to start at page 169, but it didn't work. I'll keep working on this, but any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
