Read out load is not reading my document correctly

New Here ,
Jun 12, 2025 Jun 12, 2025

I would expect the attached document to be read, Chapter, Term...

Next line "1 actionable Capable...."  It is not starts on the a few lines down and then stays in a column.  Then it works ok and then it only reads from the terms column.  Not sure how to cure this problem.

I am using this as a study tool for a class on B-law to review terms when I am on a walk or run.

Thanks

Hi @kenneth_9682,

Thanks for reaching out.

I looked into the file and used the Acrobat accessibility checker, Acrobat Pro feature: https://adobe.ly/3ZtuQWx. I found issues with the content tagged.  If the Accessibility Checker flagged that “Content is not tagged”, that’s the reason Read Out Loud isn’t working properly.

Here’s how to fix it:

1. Go to Tools > Accessibility > Autotag Document — this will apply tags automatically.

2. Try using Read Out Loud again from View > Read Out Loud.

3. If that doesn’t help, open the Tags panel (under Navigation Panes) and check if the structure looks right, especially for complex layouts.

4. If the file still behaves poorly and you have access to the original Word or InDesign file, re-exporting it as a tagged PDF may yield better results.

Let me know if you need help reviewing the tag structure or fixing the reading order!
