Receiving "One or more pages are in use and could not be deleted." when deleting page from PDF.

I am receiving "One or more pages are in use and could not be deleted." when trying to delete pages of a PDF using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. It is updated to the latest version. Tried repairing, no change. Tried changing PDF/A View Mode to never, no change. Have tried completely uninstalling (including deleting registry keys) and re-installing and still receiving same message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

We are sorry for the trouble. As described, you are getting the error message 'One or more pages are in use and could not be deleted'

Please try the following steps and see if that works

  • Reboot the computer and try again.
  • Please try to turn off the protected mode for testing. Go to  Preferences > Enhanced Security > Turn off the protected mode and uncheck the enhanced security> Click ok and reboot the application and check
Note: Please turn on the security after testing.

If it still doesn't work

Additionally, please refer to the help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/end-of-support-acrobat-xi-reader-xi.html)

Regards

Amal

Hello,

I hope you're doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

Could you please provide more details about the issue? Are you receiving the same error message, and is it occurring with a specific set of PDFs or with all files?

Additionally, what happens when you try to delete the PDF using Acrobat Online Services?

If you are using the desktop version, Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 24.005.20xxx Optional update, Jan 30, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and check. For more information, see this: https://adobe.ly/4hEY4Z5.

Try with a different PDF after updating the app to the latest version and trying on the Acrobat online services and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
