Recommendations on a color laser printer that is good with PDFs

Title pretty much has it, I'm on a Mac and currently am using an HP 1320 LaserWriter but would like to move to a color laser printer.

If anyone has one that they like and is not exorbitant in price, please pass on recommendations.

Thanks

Any modern printer will be good for printing PDFs. I have a HP Pagewide printer, just for being able to print 50 pages in a blink of a time. Not that I need it, but it’s great. Unfortuneately the scanning function does not work any more with my NAS, so that’s the bad point on it.

Hi Abamo,

The reason for my request as stated is that about 10 years ago (or so) I was trying to print a PDF that had been sent to me and it wouldn't print out of my HP Laserjet 1320. However, I was able to print it from Apple's Preview to the same Laserjet with no issue.

I contacted Adobe and was able to talk to a high engineer (that I personally know so I knew I was getting good advice) who told me that the PDF was improperly made and that Adobe should not be responsible for tweaking their software to make up the deficiencies of other companies so that all PDFs can do all things within Acrobat.

Apparently Preview was tweaked to accommodate these errors but the Acrobat that I was running at the time was not.

THAT'S why I'm curious as to people's personal experience.

If now-a-days 3rd party PDFs do not have these issues and/or color Laserwriters are able to work with what they are given than all is well and my concerns are not an issue.

So that's a more detailed reason for why I'm asking.

Thanks!

Mine is not a Laser printer but you can send me a PDF or 2 that pose problems to test.

Gary- curious as to why pdfs? I always print from Ps as psd or psb or merged tiffs the color holds true. Never printed pdfs.

I have an Epson 4880 that I have had for zillion years. Love it due to the fact that I can purchase roll paper which saves me $$$. I purchased it when I had an exhibit of my work and knew that to farm all that work out would be many $$$$ and I would not have control over the color much less the type of paper used. Epson color is excellent and I know that the new ones are even better. Only draw back is you cannot let it sit or the inks clog and you spend paper and inks clearing this out. Paper is reasonable but inks are pricey.

I would always buy an Epson if I ever need to replace.

Hi Kat,

I'm looking to replace my current laser writer, not really interested in a printer for large documents.

But thanks for the recommendation in case I ever change my mind on that.

Thanks!
