Question

redacting documents but document content then is blank

This may be something very simple to cure however, I'm at a complete loss.  When highlighting text to redact, the area is highlighted in a red recatngle, then when I click to 'applyl the redcations, the rest of the page text content disappears from view leaving a plain page with a black redacted box.  I can't seem to work out how to bring the text to be retained back into view.  All help will be appreciated.

Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience here.

Do you see this issue with every file or just this one file? Can you please share one such sample file where we can reproduce the issue.

Also share the Adobe Acrobat DC version you are using.

You can share sample files via Adobe Send https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/send/ or any medium you are comfortable with.

Thanks,

Charu Karwa

I am having this same problem - was a solution ever found?  If so, if you could share it here, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you.

Just finished with Support who had me export the file to a Postscript file, then create a new PDF from the Postscript file and then redact that new Postscript PDF and that seems to have done the trick for those still looking for the solution.  It seems some PDF files are finicky and doing this work-around "cleans them up."

This usually indicates a serious problem with the structure of the file. The only solution is to re-create the file, for example by exporting each page as an image and then creating a new PDF files from those images and running Text Recognition on it.
