Redaction opens Examine Document and OCR is lost

Hi. I am new to Acrobat Pro.  I'm using version 9.  I am trying to redact social secrity numbers from pfd files.  I open the file and run OCR.  Then I search and mark social security numbers and Apply Redaction.  A window opens labelled Examine Document.  It shows me Metadata, Hiden Text and Deleted and Cropped items.  I assmed I was to remove these items but when I do, I loose the OCR that's been done.  I unchecked Hidden Items and that seems to save the OCR.  What should I be doing in the Examine Document window?  Thank you!

Edit:  Searchable Image, Searchable Image (Exact), ClearScan

When you use ClearScan it doesn't create hidden text.

"hidden text" is used almost entirely by OCR. A particular kind of OCR where we see the original image, but we want to have searchable text. The text is hidden to make this work. It is used especially for legal documents which must not be changed in their appearance.

Thanks, as I mentioned, the OCR remains if I uncheck Hidden Text it in the Examine Document window.

Have you checked the hidden text? Is this text also redacted?

Hi @markm14109595

Hope you are doing well, and sorry to hear that.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

Adobe Acrobat 9 is an old EOL application. It may or may not work with the latest version of MAC and Windows OS. Please try to get the latest version of the Acrobat Pro DC application and try again Also please share the screen recording of the steps you are doing for a better understanding. For more information about the Acrobat 9 EOL, please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/end-support-acrobat-8-reader.html

Regards

Amal
