reduce size of PDF

My Adobe won't reduce my PDFs. Not sure why. It use to shrink them but now it isn't. Any ideas on why it stopped. Thanks.

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? Go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.1.20085 installed. go to Help > check for updates and reboot the computer once. 

Is this an issue with the particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.  Do you get any error messages when reducing the file size? If yes please share the screenshot of the same as well.

What is the workflow/steps you are doing? A small video recording of the same would be very helpful.

You may also try to reduce the file size online via the document cloud link https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/acrobat/compress-pdf/ and see if that helps.

I checked for updates and it says none available

Also this is with all files not just one file. No error messages. It saves the file just like the original one but when I compare the two it is still the same size.

We are sorry to hear that.

Have you tried compressing the PDF file via the Adobe document cloud link as shared earlier?

Please try to repair the installation of Adobe Acrobat from the help menu (Win only) and reboot the computer once.

Also, try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

I am having the same problem, we have a mapping system that exports .pdf maps. Previously when using the adobe save as reduced file size option these files would reduce form about 2MB to 400 kB. Now the first time I save as reduced file size it increases the size from 2MB to 4MB, then i do it again and it reduces back down to 2MB. 

 I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2022.001.20117

Also I add a couple of comments to a pdf and the size goes from 148kB to nearly 2MB and it wont resize back down. Files attached for reference

Adding the comments has added a font to the document.
