Remove restrict editing

New Here ,
Feb 01, 2023 Feb 01, 2023

Hi all,

I am trying to redact a number of contracts for our audit, adobe pro doesn't seem to allow me to do this. I noticed an option re untick restrict editing but it is asking for a password, it's not working on the password the document has to open it and I didn't set any other password on the contracts. Any ideas?

The document may have a second password to block editing. You have to get this from the document creator.

@Alice28206903sd2g

The password asks for while changing the security setting is not the "Document Open Password".

In fact, the permission password allows you to make changes in the security setting of the PDF file.

This is generally set up by the creator when applying security. If you can't recall it or don't have it. Then you would not be able to change the document security.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hello,

Could it be something setup within our adobe group? I definitely didn't add this as an extra step I don't even know how to

This doesn't happen by itself. If you don't know the password then you can't do what you're trying to do.

Create the file again, this time without this security policy.

If you're using Adobe Sign that's another matter. Try asking in the forum for that service.

It's possible that Adobe Sign protects the file when converting it. If you want to redact things you should do so before creating an Adobe Sign form.
