Removing Highlight from text box on fillable forms

Community Beginner ,
Oct 26, 2024 Oct 26, 2024

Has there been any advancement by this billion dollar company to remove that horrific highlight inside text boxes on fillable forms?

I've had to return to this program multiple times over the last six years and every time I do, the highlight box is still there. All my forms have to match that colour and it's doing my head in.

Are there other fillable form programs out there that can get this right?

Thanks guys

Hi @dangel88 ,

Please describe in a little more detail what exactly is the issue with the version of Adobe Acrobat that you're using... Are you referring to the light-blue color that is employed by default on every fillable PDF object?

Would you mind sharing a screenshot?

Press Ctrl + k, then select the "Forms" category from the left column, then uncheck "Show border hover color for fields".

That only works for me unfortunately. I need it to work for everyone else who sees it.

Enter the following document level script:

app.runtimeHighlight=false;

You should heed @try67 's warning about doing this.

Be aware this is a setting on your computer. You can't design your form based on it being there (or not), since it can be different for other people who use it. You can embed a script in your file that enables/disables it, but I strongly recommend you don't do that, at least not without the user's express consent to this change in their app settings.

What I don't understand is a few years ago when I used to make these forms, I could hide the highlight for me and everyone without having to imbed anything. Surely Adobe could bring this back because there's a lot of people asking for it. It's detrimental to the impact of our forms

This was never an option, unless you used a script.

Hi @dangel88 ,

Highlights in form field is a setting that is customisable from Preferences.

  1. Go to Preferences (Ctrl+K on Win and CMD + K on Mac)
  2. Select Forms.
  3. Check the "Highlight Color" section.

You can disable show border hover color or change highlight color as per your requirements.

Let me know if this works for you.
