Right panel always visible on opening document

How to have the right panel not open on opening a document?

 

Dont want to hit the cross evertime.

Thanks for reaching out. 
Ideally, if you are using the latest version of Adobe Acrobat or Reader, the right-hand panel should only appear if the file has Bookmarks or comments or if the author has set to open a file with any of the information available in the right-hand panel. 

Would you please try creating a single-page PDF using an image, then opening the file and checking if it still opens the right-hand panel?

If the issue still appears, please share a video recording of the issue and help us with the Acrobat or Reader version installed on your machine and the OS name and version.

Yes I am using the most current Acrobat via CC desktop W11 24H2

 

 

I don't want the right panel open regardless if it has bookmarks, comments or whatever. For me, this is a distraction.

In previous versions, one could  'close'  the panel by moving the handle all the way to the right, but that is no longer possible.
