Hello,

When a pdf file created by Samsung MFP is printed using Acrobat reader 9, all black is printed.

I'm an engineer in Samsung Printer. I got a problem from my customer.

He scanned his documents as PDF file using Samsung MFP and tried to print the pdf file in Acrobat Reader 9.

The print preview of Acrobat Reader 9 is OK. But, the printout is all black. We printed the pdf file using all printer drivers(Samsung, HP ...) in Acrobat Reader 9 and found the same issue happen.

But, this issue doesn't happen from Acrobat X.

Because my customer must use the only acrobat reader9, we want to resole this issue and know why this issue doesn't happen from Acrobat Reader X.

When a document is scanned using Samsung MFP and covert it to be a pdf file, it is created as multi layer.

In printing the pdf file using the Acrobat Reader 9, it seems that Acrobat Reader 9 check the pdf file and send a wrong printing data to a printer driver.

We want to know why Acrobat Reader 9 process the multilayer pdf file created by Samsung MFP wrong. if there is an resolution for this issue and you have a suggestion how we create a pdf file as multi-layer, please let me know.

And, I can't attach the sample pdf file created by Samsung MFP on it. So, if you review or investigate the pdf file, please let me know your email address. I will share.

All the best,

Wany

Hi wany_lee,

Have you tried printing from other application like TextEdit/Notepad, does that print in black too?

Does this happen only with scanned pdf files, have you tried printing unscanned pdf files in Reader?

Please confirm the Operating System installed on the machine-Mac/Windows?

Hi wany_lee,

As you are creating pdf using printer's software which uses its own mechanism to generate a pdf. Also, there might be a compatibility issue between Reader 9 and the Operating System running on the machine. As Acrobat Reader 9 is no longer supported, you may recommend customer to download the latest version of Acrobat Reader DC.

You may visit the following link for more information:

End of support | Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 (and earlier)

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks!

Shivam

Hello,

From other application like Text Edit/Notepad, the printout is OK.

As I mentioned,

This issue(all black) happen in printing with only the pdf file which scanned from Samsung MFP. In case of unscanned pdf file, there is no problem. And it happen in only Acrobat Reader 9, this issue doesn't happen from Acrobat Reader X(or DC).

The PDF File which scanned from Samsung MFP is created as multi-layer. So,it seems that Acrobat Reader 9 change somehting for the multi-layer pdf file when printing. We want to know it.

I have the pdf file which scanned from Samsung MFP. If you want to get it, please let me know your email address or how to know how to attach it on this forum.

All the best,

Wany

Thank You for the information.

Could you please let me know the application user is using to scan the document/convert to pdf - is it printer's software?

Also, confirm the Operating System installed on the machine.
