Scanned images are too large

I have been using acrobat 9 to scan large documents with a canon dr-7550C scanner for a number of years.  I have just upgraded my computer and purchased DC Pro.  When I scan the images with DC the file size of the documents is at least 4 times as large as they were with Acrobat 9.  I have tried saving the files as a Reduced size pdf and also tried the optimization features (and used the Size-Quality slider) to no avail.  I have tried all dpi, colour, compression options and when I get the file size down a little, the quality of the document is no where near as good as it was with Acrobat 9.  Please help!! any suggestions would be really appriciated.  Thanks greg

We regret for the inconvenience but we are here to help you out with your problem. Scanned files and their sizes and quality vary on a number of parameters. In this specific case of yours we will need these things ASAP to solve the issue at the earliest:

1) Document scanned from Acrobat 9

2) Document scanned form Acrobat DC Pro.

While scanning both the documents please keep the source document, scanner settings and scanner device same.

We will be looking forward to hear from you.

Thanks for getting back to me.  Just to make sure I send you exactly what you want, I am attaching screenshots from my Acrobat 9 scanning windows...  I create choose the Create PDF From Scanner->Custom Scan option.  The following window appears.  From the Input / Scanner: Options button, I choose Show Scanners Native Interface.

The Document Options button options are configured as follows:

When I press the OK button, the Scanner interface window appear:

I either scan the documents as 256-level Gray or 24-bit color.   All of these options give me very good image quality and a very small file size.   Can you let me know exactly how you want the options configured in Acrobat DC on the initial screens (including the optimization settings) and I will send over the sample files to you.

Thanks again

Kindly use the settings for Compression and Optimization from the dialog box and use the scanner acrobat settings from the background. Kindly share the documents scanned from both the Acrobat versions(9 and DC Pro) using same source doc and share with us asap for quick analysis.
