Scrolling issues on Adobe Acrobate Pro 2020

@ppnonprof first of all, is this happening on a PC or MAC? It sounds like a display rendering issue. Since updating didn't help, you could try the following... Software versions, especially older perpetual licenses like Acrobat 2020, eventually stop receiving the very latest compatibility updates for newer operating systems or hardware drivers. Say, you are using Windows 11 is up-to-date, Acrobat 2020 might not be fully optimized to work perfectly with its newer display technologies, leading to glitches like the frozen page segment you're seeing. It's similar to how an older app might struggle on a brand-new phone – it just hasn't been updated to understand the latest system features. It would mean you need to upgrade to the latest 2025 version. 

You can try the following as work-around, can't promise it will work... Have a look at your computer manufacturer's website (for laptops) or your graphics card manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to download and install the latest drivers specifically for your model and operating system. 

Acrobat uses your computer's graphics card for smoother rendering. Sometimes, this can cause display problems. Try disabling hardware acceleration in your PDF viewer's preferences. For Acrobat, PC - Edit > Preferences > Page Display or for the MAC, Edit > Preferences > Multimedia & 3D, and look for an option like "Enable hardware rendering" or "Use 2D graphics acceleration" and uncheck it. Restart the application afterward.

If that still doesn't work, double-check the 'view' setting for any options that might inadvertently be splitting or freezing parts of the display. 

This is the second-to-last resort? As a quick test to see if the issue is with your specific Acrobat Pro 2020 or something more system-wide, try opening the same PDF in a different application. For example, use your web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox all have built-in PDF viewers), or a free alternative PDF reader.

Though less likely to cause this specific visual glitch repeatedly, it's worth checking if the issue occurs with all PDFs or just a specific one. If it's only one file, the file itself might be corrupt.
