Send help Acrobat not opening files

Why are mypdf files becoming shortcut and when I tried to open on Acrobat 'Recent' it says 'the file that you are trying to open is no longer available and cannot be opened'? 

I have saved my files in advance and opened it a few times before this happens, why and what should I do?

    Can you confirm if the files are saved locally, on a drive (like a USB), network or cloud connection?

    What happens when you locate the pdf file on your system and double click on it or right-click to select Open with Acrobat (not sure what operating system you are using)
