Question

Single to double-sided printing midstream

In 1 PDF file I have a double-sided document in the middle of many single-sided ones. Is there a way for Acrobat to tell the printer to print this 1 doc double-sided when printing the entire PDF file?

All great ideas and work-arounds... thanks so much for the input! I'll try the batch and the Portfolio optons and let you know..

Are the single pages separate onto themselves? i.e is each single sided page meant to be a separate piece?

If so, save each one as a separate PDF, and your double-sided one as well. Then create a PDF Portfolio and add all your individual files. When printed (with duplex turned on), each PDF within the porfolio will print as a separate entity: single-side pieces will stay that way.

Of course that means you have to tell the end user they need to print double-sided as there's no way to make that setting as part of a document.

Hi Tidders!

Most large office printers will allow you to force single sided printing in the print preferences. Additionally, some offer batch file printing and allow individual file printing options in the batch setup You could check to see if your printer supports either of those options. Otherwise, I would also recommend what Luke suggested and manually re-create that one file as single sided for printing.

I don't think so. Work-arounds include extracting the double sided pages and printing separately, or adding blank pages and printing all double sided.
