Slow printing with Acrobat XI

Hello,

We have users that work out of a terminal server (Windows 2012 R2). When any of them try to print any PDF using Acrobat XI Standard, the print dialogue box takes 5-10 seconds to open (it used to be instant). Regardless of how many pages they try to print, It takes a while to process the print job. The progress bar goes by slowly. When the printer finally starts to print, it seems to pause for a few seconds before printing the next page. If I print from any other application such as Word, notepad, etc, it will print instantly.

Things I've tried:

  1. 1. On the Advanced Print Setup dialog, make sure that “Let printer determine colors” is CHECKED
  2. 2. Selected "Print As Image"
  3. 3. Installed latest print drivers (LANIER MP 4054)
  4. 4. Help>Repair Acrobat Installation (followed by a reboot)
  5. 5. Confirmed that there are no unused printers in control panel
  6. 6. Made sure Acrobat was up to date

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jason,

When you said it started to happen recently, are you aware of any changes that happened with Acrobat recently?

Also, we have released latest update for Acrobat XI Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows you may try installing on one odd machine and test again.

Launch Acrobat>Edit>Preferences>Security(Enhanced) , try whitelisting the files location. And restart Acrobat and try again.

Will be waiting for your response.

Hi Tariq,

Thanks for your reply. I have not noticed any recent changes to Acrobat recently. I checked for updates, and I see one was released on the 11th. I'll run that update later when all the users are logged off the terminal server. I whitelisted the PDF file locations and had the user test printing. So far she says it's much better/faster. I'm going to follow up with her before the end of the day to confirm that the issue hasn't returned. I'll get back to you on that.
