Spell check not working in fields in Acrobat DC.

I have the option selected uinder Preferences, I also selected the option when I made the document in Acrobat Pro.  When a user fills in the form, a red underline shows a misspelled word, but spell check will not activate. It will display common words, but running the spell checker options are ghosted.
