Split a two page landscape spread pages into single portrait pages

Oh great gurus of the WWW....I have a question for you!

Vendors send me pdf's of their catalog, but they are setup in a two page landscape spread.  I want to simply cut all of the pages in half down the middle and turn them into single landscape pages.  So the number of pages will essentially double in the document, but when viewing on Ipad, it is much easier to see the pages

Is this function hidden in there somewhere and I just cannot find it?  I found another small bit of software out there that can do this, but it seems as if the leader in PDF software should have this function within its basic set of tools

Any help, ideas, or if this just is not a function of this Acrobat Pro...please let me know and tell them to make it so!

Thank you in advance for any replies!

Again...just cut all of the pages that are set up like below...in 1/2 vertically down the middle of the page.

There's no built-in function that does that. The way to do it is to duplicate each page and then crop out half of it, alternating from left to right...

I've actually developed a (paid-for) tool that allows you to do it with a single click. If you're interested you can find it here: Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Acrobat -- Split Pages in 2 Parts and Combine to a New File

Thanks for your reply.  I will continue to use the other little program I found that does this.  I find it hard to believe that Adobe does not have this function available.

I work with creating ADA documents for screenreaders.  That only works for items that are completely horizontal already.  In the case of photocopies in which the document is aligned on one side and crooked on the other, when you crop, the crooked side remains crooked and does not adjust to horizontal when run through the editing process.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

To address the issue you're experiencing with creating ADA-compliant documents, particularly with photocopies that are misaligned:

When you crop a document that is misaligned on one side, standard cropping tools do not correct the alignment or straighten the page. To resolve this issue and make the document fully horizontal for better accessibility, you need to straighten the document before or during the editing process. Here's how you can do that:

Use a Straightening Tool: Most PDF editors, such as Adobe Acrobat, have a "Straighten" or "Deskew" tool that can automatically align the document to horizontal. This tool detects the skew in the scanned document and corrects it to make all content level.

Please try the steps as below:

1. Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro

2. Go to Tools > Scan and OCR > Enhance Scanned file

3. Click on the gear icon > Under filters make sure 'Deskew' is on

4. Select 'Recognize Text' > Click on 'Enhance'

Let us know how it goes.

Regards
Amal

Go to View menu - Page Display - Single Page View.  Then if you want, you can extract single pages.  No cropping or duplicating required.
