Stop background processes on macOS

New Here ,
Sep 28, 2022 Sep 28, 2022

Hi, there are several background processes which continue to run after all Adobe applications are ostensibly closed. No CC running, no applications. Much of these must be closed manually using Activity Monitor; this is itself a problem.

But 2 background processes are a problem: Core Sync (helper) and IPC Broker "adobeIpcBroker". Core Sync can be stopped "Quitted" but returns despite never opening the applications in the meantime. And it returns with several processes, I just closed about 14.

IPC Broker cannot be closed.

Hi @alecd72948189

Sorry to hear about the trouble caused.

The AdobeIPC Broker is responsible for all interactions among the various Adobe apps and processes. There are several instances when Adobe apps need to communicate with each other or to pass some data or information to each other. The AdobeIPC Broker helps make this communication possible.

You can try turning off the Coresync from the CC desktop app's preferences.

Please refer to this discussion and follow the steps suggested here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/creative-cloud-services-discussions/how-can-i-disable-core-sync-and-u....

To understand which Adobe background processes are required for your App. Please refer to this help article as well https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/adobe-background-processes.html

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hello Akanchha thank you for your response. I am aware of the supposed functionality of applications like AdobeIPC Broker. The synchronisation option has been turned off in CC desktop application preferences. Despite this these background applications still run. I literally have every desktop application like Acrobat not running, yet these background applications persist run of their own accord like a virus. Kindly tell me how to stop this; this is unacceptable. Adobe applications are akin to a virus in their behaviour.
