+ symbol showing when printing editable text box

Why is this plus symbol showing when I print something using an editable text box? This hasn't always happened. Any idea how to make it go away?

It is showing on both the computer screen and printed versions of an editable PDF.

Untick this option in the Preferences:

It means there's text in the field that can't be displayed fully. Solutions were given above (although the last one just gets rid of the plus symbol, it doesn't mean your text will be printed in full).
