Text and pagination issues Adobe Acrobat DC

I'm having issues with partly disappearing page numbers in my pdf, generated from a Word document. The page numbers were added in Adobe and appear to be unstable.....many have disappeared or partly disappeared (67 going to 6, for example). Any clues to what I am doing wrong? When I saved the document all looked fine.

Also having a similar problem with text in two paragraphs that I slightly edited with the Adobe text editor. About 30% of the characters in the text, in random pieces of words, have disappeared, in the two paragraphs that I edited. Any clues?
Many thanks!

Hi @danw50975638,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Pro DC.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

Please try to reboot the computer once and try again to edit and see if that makes any difference.

Also, try to repair the installation (For Windows Only) and go to Help > Repair Installation.

Is the file stored on a shared network/drive? If yes, please try to download the file to your computer locally and then try to edit and check.

Please try to turn off the protected mode for testing and see if that makes any difference. Go to Edit (Windows), Adobe Acrobat (Mac) > Preferences > Enhanced Security > uncheck 'Enable protected mode at startup,' turn off the protected mode and uncheck the enhanced security > Click OK and reboot the computer.

Note: Turning off the security may pose security risks; please turn on the security after testing.

If turning off the protected mode works for you, please try to add the file and the folder to the Acrobat whitelist.

Go to Edit (Windows), Adobe Acrobat (Mac) > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Add File and Add Folder path > Click OK and reboot the application.

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your help!

The problem is with a particular PDF file, not with all files. I tried rebooting; no change. I also repaired the installation (Adobe). No change.

I opened the file this morning, made a copy of it,  and made a small edit (substituting a page) on the copy. All of a sudden, all the glitches on all pages have vanished. I saved the file and am hoping for the best.

Clearly, it is some sort of display bug. I hope it doesn’t reappear.

Again, thanks.
