Question

The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (135).

I have created some pretty massive documents. They are pdf's with newspaper clippings embedded. Lately I have been getting this error a lot. Very frustrating because I have put so much work into them. I am on the fastest mac you can buy, with the most up to date OS, and my acrobat is up to date as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any resolution to this issue?  I am having the same problem but with a document I did not create.  I was successfully making comments on it for weeks, and suddenly I'm getting this message.  I've tried restarting the program & the computer and also tried saving as something else -- nothing seems to work.  This is immensely frustrating.

I am pretty much giving up on this application. This is not a professional application. Have abandoned it and now working in Apple’s free preview. Not sure what I am paying $50 a month.

Already repaired permission, rebooted, deleted and reinstalled the app.

Since I updated to the new version it has gotten even worse, and I can’t figure out a way to go back to the old version.

So, in summary

  1. Spinning beach ball every 5 minutes while the application is open.
  2. Cannot save changes to this document because of this error “The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (135).” Nobody seems to have an answer for this.
  3. Any of the work I have been doing highlighting text now shows up as big yellow redactions in preview. Not only discarding all of my past work, but also blocking the most important parts.

So now my pdf's that I have spent the last 6 months working on are completely unstable. When I open them I just get a spinning beach ball in acrobat pro and preview. The only thing I can attribute this to is the javascript with the commenting. Everytime I try to delete all of "comments" it goes haywire. So it has gone from bad to worse.

Is there anyway to remove the commenting on this file without opening it in acrobat or preview and just stripping it of all of the work I have doone for the past six month? Losing that work is better than losing everything.
