Hi All
I have 2 macbook airs - one from 2012 and one from 2020.
I have files stored in dropbox.
I can open them just fine with the old computer. When I try to open with the new computer - I get this error: There was an error opening this document. The file cannot be found.
I can email myself the document and then it opens fine. Why can't I open it straight from dropbox?
Thanks, M

Hi
Can you tell us which Adobe application you're using so we can move the thread to the correct forum

that's just as likely to be a dropbox issue.

You didn't say if you have the same macOS on both computers. I found this that may (or may not) help:
https://appletoolbox.com/is-dropbox-not-working-on-macos-how-to-fix/
Here is the first paragraph:
"With the release of macOS Monterey 12.3, Apple has announced that it is deprecating the kernel extensions used by Dropbox and Microsoft OneDrive. This means that you will not be able to open online-only files in third-party applications on your Mac. Instead, you will need to open those online-only files using Finder. Dropbox and Microsoft are both working on fixes that are available in beta releases of the respective apps."
We still need to know the Adobe application you are using so we can move your post.

Hi all -
Thank you for your support and ideas. It turns out it was a Mac issue. (Although it appeared to me to be from my pdfs only.). So I apologise that I came to the wrong place for the fix. Having said that - being able to write it down and get ideas helped me get it solved. So thank you again for your responses. Have a great day.

Ask DropBox why you can't open it. This isn't DropBox support.
If I had to guess, this is probably related to your computer's internal security settings.
Typically, backup files stored on remote cloud drives must be moved (downloaded) to the computer's internal hard drive before opening.

Adobe Acrobat.
I'm also working with Mac to see if it is a Mac thing. (Or a permissions thing...

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

do not reply to adobe forum messages via your email unless you remove your signature first. these are public forums frequented spammers and scammers.

Hi MauryaL,
Thank you for reaching out.
Please let us know the workflow you use to open the file from Dropbox. Did you check if it happens with all the PDFs in Dropbox?
Did you try saving that file locally and opening it in Acrobat? Check if that works for now.
Share the Acrobat and Mac OS versions in use.
Thanks,
Meenakshi
