There was an error reading a stream

Greetings,

We have recently bought a lexmark 7155 multifunction and set it up for scan to email functionality. Our users all have Acrobat Standard DC and Reader DC. When they scan a document and send it to themselves, they can open the PDF and view it just fine. When the scroll to the bottom of the document, they receive an error stating "There was an error reading the stream" and then the app window stops redrawing and artifacts start appearing. We have the same model printer in another location and it works just fine.

I'm going to begin by updating the firmware of the scanner, but does anyone have any thoughts on this issue?

Update.

We had replaced the machine and cloned the address book, apparently her address entry must have been corrupted. We deleted the cloned one, reentered the address entry, resolved.

I am having the same issue as the original poster, however I have a different machine.

Sharp MX-M465N

Latest firmware is installed

Connected via Ethernet

Windows 7 x64

Adobe 15.020.20042

It is only affecting one person in the office. Setup scan to SMB/network folder and could open them fine. Something I did notice is that if she sent me the file, I can't open it either (on windows 10, x64, I have the same version of adobe as she has), same message, but if a co-worker sends me scanned pdf of the same page, it comes out fine. If I try to open it in edge or Word 2016, I get a document of 14 blank pages, but is only one page scanned. She is using Outlook (not sure of  the version).

Another thing I noticed, is the file she is receiving is 6mb, and the one her co-worker sent me was 44kb.

I hope the information I sent is helpful.

Hi wadec423

Could you please let me know which application user is using to view the pdf- Acrobat/Reader

What is the version of Acrobat/Reader installed on the machine which is giving this error.

For ex- to check the version of Acrobat, launch Acrobat>navigate to Help menu>select About Adobe Acrobat.

Which Operating System is installed on the machine-Windows/Mac?
