Trying to fill and sign but signature is hidden behind text box

I have a form sent to me so I can't edit it. The text box is where I can write by name, but I also need to sign that part. I'm able to fill that part out and put a digital signature over it. But the signature is always hidden by the text box. I thought this might be just a visual error, but saving it / sending it back to the company, the signatures are still behind the text boxes. Does anyone know how to make the digital signatures come out front?

Attached is the blank form. Clicking the fill & sign lets you fill the text boxes. You can add signatures, but it always gets hidden by the text box.

If you have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC you can edit the form fields. You won't be able to do that using Adobe Reader DC.

Also this form is not secured and restricting any editing. All you have to do is change the fill color of the textfield in front to show the electronic signature behind it, or just delete the textfield.

After it has been digitally signed, the document is not editable. I have the same problem, except my form is just multiple signatures. After being signed by 9 people, the form looks empty because they are behind a box.

Any way to fix that after the document is signed?

As mentioned in my initial reply, you may need to delete the unnecessary text fields that are in front of the digital signature fields.

I believe that happened when the form was created for the first time.

There is  user preference that detects and add fields automatically when the document is converted to a PDF file; for future reference you can disable it.

You need to fix the original PDF without signatures applied to it in order to be ablen to edit the form.

If you don't have a blank working copy of this document, all signatures must be removed.

I'd suggest to save a blank copy of the form next time and before you send it out for signatures.

Why can't Acrobat put the signature in front of the gray text field background? Wouldn't you consider this a bug? Shouldn't it be fixed?

I agree, but I am not a developer and I can't see if that is a bug or not.

I don't have these type of issues with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC since 2019.

If you suspect this may be a bug you should use the link posted below to report it to Adobe:
