Turn off auto display of Page Thumbnails Pane?

An updated version of Acrobat Pro magically appeared on my monitor this week, v. 2023.003.20284--I am not impressed. I cannot turn off the unwanted, automatic display of an open Pages thumbnail pane. When I open the Menu/View/ShowHide/Side panels menu without an open pdf displayed, the option to uncheck it is disabled and so are others. This is very annoying as I can open/create multiple pdfs on a daily basis and having to click away the thumbnails pane when it is in the way and not wanted is irritating. Is there a solution?

    This has been driving me crazy for quite a while now and I just found a solution. Don’t know if it works in all versions of Acrobat or not, but I was able to right-click on the Thumbnail icon on the left toolbar and select Reset Panes. This closed the Navigation Pane and it stayed closed even after quitting Acrobat and opening up a different PDF. Your mileage may vary…

    I trust you're doing well.

    Could you kindly provide a screenshot of the tool pane you mentioned?

     

    Please update Adobe Acrobat to the latest version, 23.006.20320. You can do this by checking for pending updates in the Help menu and selecting "Check for updates." After installing the updates, restart the application and your computer to see if the issue is resolved.

     

    To further troubleshoot, open any PDF and attempt to turn off the Page Thumbnail pane to see if it resolves the problem.

    The Pages pane opens automatically at the right side of the Acrobat screen every single time I open or create a pdf. I also find it very annoying that the toolbar sits in the document window (at the left side) and is frequently in the way. These in my opinion were not beneficial changes. The last version of Acrobat had a better user interface with some exceptions.
