Turn Off Bookmarks on Side Panel (Adobe Pro)

Hello,

Does anyone know how to turn off the side panels? My bookmarks are automatically extended (and in the way). I need to make this a default setting for ALL documents I open and not just make it a single document setting every time. Hope this makes sense. Thank you!

Greetings,

There is no way to elimate bookmarks once the PDF is created.  The trick is when saving the PDF, choose PRINT.  The bookmarks are not imbedded

Whether or not the PDF bookmarks are visible when the PDF is opened is controlled by whoever creates and publishes the PDF, not the end user.

So, no, there's no way to globally set YOUR version of Acrobat to not open the bookmarks panel, if the PDF has been set by the author to show the bookmarks panel.

Best thing to do is just click the panel to snap it shut and out of your way.

I work with a team which everyone is annoyed by the bookmark panel always opening because we don't need it. We look at more than 100 of documents a day which non of them require us to look at the bookmark. Our PDF file is secured by our employer for different reasons. I've been reading on how to close, hide, turn off the bookmark tab futur documents tthat's always opening but no option is done for us and believe me the users NEED THIS. You have no clue how frustrating this is! Just to be more precise the document we are opening has about 20 to 30 pages so option of remembering in preferences what the -document -open setting(-restore last view settings when reopening documents) check box is not an option that works for us because we need every document to open on the First page and this remembers what EVER page you close or left the futur document will open that page. User wants max screen page without all the panels right or left to be opened when all we want to see is the document information. I work with Acrobat reader and Acrobat Pro and both have the same issue of not having the bookmark panel hidden when opening futur documents.

I am able to open the pdfs in Google Chrome and the bookmarks do not open.  Hope this helps.
