Two page view PDF change to single page view when sending or downloading it

Hi All-

Im having a lot of problems with page view. in Acrobat. I've designed a book, imported  and organized the files correctly in Acrobat and saved it as a multi page PDF, displyed in two page view.  I saved it to my desktop and when I open the file from there it looks great.  However when I try to send it to another party or upload it to my Website.  The Two Page View changes to 'single page view.' so that pages are no longer viewed facing each other-- like a book shoul;d.  I have checked everywhere in Acrobat Help, but cannot find awhat I am doing wrong.  I did see something about setting an 'Initial' page view in Acrobat preferences but when I go to look for it in preferences I cannot find anything about an initial page..  PLEASE someone if youy have encountered this issue HELP!!!

    As @gary_sc says, the user can override your settings, but you can put your preferences in the document properties.

    Just be aware that many (non-Adobe) PDF viewers out there will not respect these settings.

    This is something that you cannot have ultimate control over. Acrobat gives the final authority to the viewer, not the sender. If YOU have your settings set to view documents in a single view and you receive a side-by-side document, how would you feel if the sender's settings overrode yours?

     

    The one option you have is to have a cover sheet for your book requesting the viewer change their settings with the instructions on how to do that. There is probably a way to script that so that the user just needs to click a button, but (1) scripting is not in my skillset, and (2) you'd need an undo options after the person was done with your work and was proceeding to other PDFs.

     

    I know in the past I have received PDFs that are supposed to take over the entire screen. When that script starts, I receive a warning about this and am asked if I want to let this PDF go to full-screen mode with the option to cancel the operation. Personally, I always cancel that option.
