Hello, I have been trying to open a PDF that I have accessed recently and whenever I try a pop up message reads "There was an error opening this document. Access denied." I went to preferences and unchecked "Enable Protected Mode at Startup" then selected "yes" but nothing has changed.

Try following the steps mentioned in this microsoft article:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/2623670/access-denied-or-other-errors-when-you-access-or-work-with-files-and-f

I had the same issue, it was due to the file name length (too long), reduced the name down and file opened without issue.

Is this document on a network drive? Try copying the PDF to your C drive and see if it opens from there.

Okay, I believe you are using Adobe Reader to open the document.

Please go to Edit> Preferences> Security( Enhanced) and uncheck the "Enable Protected Mode at Startup"

Then also uncheck the "Enable Enchanced Secutity" checkbox and then try.

I tried that, closed the app then restarted it and still no luck 😞
