Hi!

I'm helping a client who has a problem with Adobe Acrobat. They can't open a PDF document from Sharepoint using Acrobat client. They get an error message that blocks them from accessing the file. I think they need to enable the online storage option for this feature to work, but that option does not appear to be accessible either.

The error message says this:

"Access denied. Before opening files in this location, you must first add  the web site to your trusted sites list"

Here is what we have tried so far:

1) Added sharepoint to trusted sites in Internet options

2)Reinstalling Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Acrobat.

3) Modified preferences: Edit > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Unchecked 'enable protected mode at startup' Turned off the Protected mode and unchecked 'Enhanced Security' > Clicked OK and reboot the computer.

4) Modified registry to enable online services

Any suggestions?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.

Clicking an unknown link to a website poses a security risk to your device. Malicious websites can transfer harmful content or silently gather data. To avoid such security risks, you can configure Acrobat and Acrobat Reader to display a warning when a PDF attempts to connect to an Internet site.

You can allow Acrobat and Acrobat Reader to contact selected websites by adding their URLs to the list of trusted websites in the Trust Manager preferences. Alternatively, you can allow all URLs as described in the help page: https://adobe.ly/48ZpG6e

Hope this information will help
