Unable to Remove Bates Numbers

I am trying to re-number some documents for a production, but I keep getting an error message that Adobe is unable to remove the bates numbers. The error message says:

"Adobe Acrobat cannot find any Bates Numbering in this file. If you see Bates Numbering information, it was not added in Adobe Acrobat or by an Adobe PDFMaker, and cannot be detected as such."

I literally used Adobe to add the numbers earlier today, why am I getting this message? I need to re-number and produce these docs today.

Hi Katiefranklin,

If you have Acrobat Pro create a new Action (via Tools - Action Wizard) with the Remove Bates Numbering command and a Save command and then run it on your files.

If possible, please check for any pending updates of Acrobat from Help>Check for updates.

Please share the following details:

Is it Adobe Reader or Acrobat?

Check the installed dot version from Help>About Adobe Acrobat.

    As per the issue description, you are not able to remove the Bates number in the PDF document, Is that correct?

    Yes, that’s correct. I was able to get them removed, but the error message told me that Adobe couldn’t find the numbers, but I added them with Adobe so I don’t know what the issue is.
