Unsupported PDF Dimensions

Engaged ,
Mar 15, 2024 Mar 15, 2024

Hello

I have a 300 page pdf document that I was thinking to print PDF to Book to hand out to folks here at our nonprofit group.

On a PDF to Print Book site I uploaded the PDF Document. The message informed me that "UNSUPPORTED PDF DIMENSIONS
Your chosen file(s) can not be printed with any of our book sizes.
See our print size specifications or choose different file(s). You can manually choose the book size and run a preflight check to determine why your file(s) couldn't be matched.

On this page I see the PDF as:
Attached:
lifeof.pdf(5.49 in x 7.65 in / 13.94 cm x 19.42 cm)
pt1pt2-fin.pdf(5.49 in x 10.21 in / 13.94 cm x 25.93 cm)

How can I modify the PDF document so that the adjustment will meet the critera of the small book publisher?

Thanks !!

Hello

It appears that the book publisher's specifications do not support the PDF dimensions. You can change the document by using a PDF editing program such as Adobe Acrobat to change the page size. Just adjust the pages to the specified book size that the publisher has provided. After making changes, upload the updated PDF again to make sure it works.

The best would be to go back to the source document and to change there the page size to a supported size. The page size actually in the PDF is 215.9 mm x 279.4 mm.

If that does not work, print it to a PDF printer with the correct page size as required and use one of the options:

As your file is text as image, I would expect some loss in quality using this route.

Incidentally: This is not exactly an Acrobat question, and you did not use an Adobe product to create this file. The PDF producer is Microsoft Print to PDF. But that may also be you when you created the sample.

Before using the Adobe PDF printer to recreate the file it's better to use the Preflight tool in Acrobat Pro (assuming you have access to it), as it will allow you to re-scale the pages to a specific size.

I was unable to reply other than in this original posting box.

Today's note:

Hello

I did a print to pdf using 'fit' in one effort.
Then using preflight I did a analyze and fix and saved the document.
In a pdf to book print site I had to run their Preflight as there were pages errors. I was unable to figure out how to 're-scale the pages'.

I'll keep working on this document however at the moment I cannot resize all the pages that would allow me to run a pdf to book routine. Attached is a Preflight error page to show results.

The document was created in 1990 using a pdf standard for that era. Only recently was I requested to make a printable document so that this non profit could make manuscipt style copies to be circulated here.

Thanks !

Thanks for your help. In the older versions of Acrobat this work was less than complicated.

I have the Subscribtion so my Acrobat is current.

I need to learn additional work with the possible book such as changing font, darkening text and so forth.

Again thanks for the support.
