Use Acrobat on Android to scan & create PDF - I have Acrobat Pro DC on my Macbook

When I click on "Create PDF" on my android in Acrobat, it tells me I need a paid subscription - I just bought Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and was told that the new software for Android supports scanning. The information on the Google Play page of Acrobat says: "use your device camera to snap a shot of anything and create a PDF.

There does not seem to be any way to accomplish this

I guess this is from https://www.acrobat.com/en_us.html; what we find there is "Adobe Acrobat Pro subscription is the complete PDF solution for working with PDF documents and forms – in the office and on the go. Subscribe and get Acrobat XI Pro software plus online services that let you work anywhere." So the key word is subscription; you've generalized it to include the permanent license. And I think you are ENTIRELY REASONABLE to do so, in the absence of any words about the permanent product. Frankly, Adobe have made a mess of continuing to market the two quite separate products under the same name. For instance, there is no free trial of the permanent license version, which is now different and limited compared to the subscription version. And from what you say even the sales staff aren't trained. If you make a purchase based on misinformation from sales, I don't think it's unreasonable to say that you are entitled to redress.

But getting to the technical specifics (more my thing)... I don't have an up to date Android device but I tried the current Acrobat Reader on iPhone. It has a "Scan" button marked "NEW". It does NOT need a subscription, unlike the Create PDF. So your _technical_ problem is not that Create PDF needs a subscription (because that wouldn't help), it's that the Scan button does not appear. There might be a technical limitation (e.g. doesn't think your device has a camera) but more likely it is an older version as it's a very recent addition. That's why I asked about the date. May be worth downloading again from the official Play Store.

Where does it say that this is part of Acrobat Pro? I'd like to understand what led you to spend $200 on something that is either free or subscription only (unclear which). What's the date in your app, too?

This whole process started with an email from Adobe indicating that I should consider Acrobat Pro DC. I called in a inquired about the new version of Acrobat and was quoted something over $400, however, an upgrade and was offered to upgrade from my current Acrobat Pro X to Acrobat Pro DC was $212. The literature information provided indicated that there was a new (super) Acrobat for Android that would support scanning directly to PDF that would allow scanning directly to the Adobe cloud. I have a scan app that I do use, but it is not integrated with anything and is a pain to use, so I opted to upgrade my existing license to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC - 2015 (Classic) 2015.006.30244 - Copyright © 1984-2016 Adobe Systems. No comment anywhere that the Android portion was subscription only, (everything seems to refer to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC) or that there would be any difference operationally with my upgrade permanent license

I am looking for integrated packages of software - in my opinion, there are way too may "apps" out there that don't work well with anything and end up not being used because of the time-consuming requirements to use them - and in this case, the new Acrobat appeared to fit the bill

For instance, on the Adobe site - it says

"Working from anywhere starts here - Access Adobe Document Cloud services and download the latest updates to Acrobat DC and Adobe Document Cloud mobile apps." - Given that my ProDC Acrobat accesses the cloud, one would logically assume that this all works together

On the Adobe site, the lead into buying Adobe Acrobat Pro DC says "Work anywhere with the complete PDF solution"."Includes Adobe Acrobat Pro DC software, mobile access and document cloud services"  I bought Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, so why doesn't it work? - any person of average intelligence would have to think so

Create PDF is available only to subscribers. Yes, it does know.

Don't use "Create PDF". Use the camera icon:

Great idea, but my version (just downloaded) does not include the "Scan" icon, so "Create PDF" is the only option available

Do you have a subscription? The permanent license is much more limited and does not include any mobile features?

I do have (just purchased) Acrobat Pro DC under a permanent license (no subscription). I find it hard to imagine that when I download the Acrobat (Reader) on my Android that it would somehow magically know that I have (or not) a subscription to Acrobat. I was told very specifically at the time I bought the permanent license that functionally there was no difference - direct access to the Adobe cloud, same editing ability etc - all of which seem to work except the ability to scan using Acrobat on my Android phone. Doesn't make much sense to me - am I missing something?
