Question

User is creating random "ÿÿÿÿÿ" folders when opening PDF in Acrobat DC Std/Prof.

Hi there,

I have a very strange situation with one of our users. When she opens PDF files in Adobe DC Professional it creates sub-folders named like "ÿÿÿÿÿ" (number of "ÿ" in the folder's name is not constant) in the directory where the PDF file is stored. There folders don't get deleted when she closes Adobe DC and have to be deleted manualy.

Have you ever heard of this or a similar problem while using Adobe DC? She had the same problem when using Adobe DC Standard. Switching to DC Professional solved the problem for one day, then it came back.

Thank you in advance.

Regards

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Could you try opening pdfs files from another directory (other than the existing one) and check if this behavior still continues?

I am having the exact same issue, in multiple folders, on different drives and network servers.  Do you know why this might be happening, and how to resolve?

We are having the same issue with Acrobat Reader DC 2020.006.20034.  Was there any solution to this?

Hi Sebastian,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Are you still experiencing this issue? If yes, check if Acrobat is updated to the latest patch by clicking check for updates under help menu. You may also download updates manually using this link: Adobe software and product updates

Could you let us know Acrobat version you have on the machine: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Thanks,

Shivam

Hey Shivam,

thank you for your reply. The problem is still there and it's the version 2015.006.30392 (Adobe Acrobat Pro DC). We are in a bigger environment so the manual check for updates is not possible. And still: the user is the only one with this issue, one of more than 300+ users using Acrobat Standard or Professional DC (occured on both versions!).

Do you have any idea where to look any further?

Thank you

Sebastian
