I created a shape using the polygon tool. I can modify the thickness of the line, but the fill option does not work. How can I fill in color using a polygon shape?

The new UI in Acrobat DC is less than clear. The color picker has two tabs, but they don't look like tabs. Is "Fill" underlined and have a color checked? You may also want to try the Properties panel: Cmd/Ctrl + E.

Here is an article that explains colored polygon fills in depth. Scroll down about halfway till you get to the part that starts discussing Acrobat. Document Geek: Number Knitting #4: Virtual Coloring in Acrobat DC Using the Drawing Tools.

Hi, I wonder how you got on with this.  I can't make any sense of the responses to this.  I have drawn a polygon and it won't fill with colour even when I set a fill colour.  It only seems to want to colour the outline.  Did you find a solution?

Hello,

I hope you're doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

Please try the following steps, and let us know if that works for you:

  1. Ensure the Polygon is Closed: A polygon must be a closed shape to apply a fill color. If the shape isn't closed, it will only allow you to color the outline. To check this, select the polygon and verify that the starting and ending points are connected.

  2. Set the Fill Color:

    • Select the polygon by clicking on it.
    • Right-click and choose "Properties" from the context menu.
    • In the "Appearance" section, you'll find options for "Border Color" and "Fill Color."
    • Click on the "Fill Color" option and select your desired color.
    • If the fill color doesn't appear as expected, try selecting a different color to see if the issue persists.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 24.005.20320. Planned update, Dec 10, 2024. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and check.
