Videos not playing in PDF - Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

I'm trying to create a pitch document that has a embedded video of an app user flow. It''s H.264 mp4 exported from Premier Pro and it's 22mb.
When I click to activate, enable the trust prompt, and it goes to play it says "connecting" "ready" and nothing happens, just a black box.
I've tried embedding in Acrobat, and exporting through Indesign.
I've tried my desktop and laptop.
Miraculously it worked once on my laptop, and then I closed acrobat, and tried it again, and black box!

Honestly, are you telling me that in 2021 I can't play an embedded video in a presentation? Adobe?

Ok, I contacted support and they virtually deleted the adobe preferences in regedit thus re-instating them after a restart.

The videos now work!

My solution: Delete PREFERENCES via REGEDIT (you may need to look up how to do this) and restart the comp and try. Good luck.

March 2024, and I still have this issue.
We have to share user conference presentations as PDF (no idea why), and videos only ever show a black screen and a progress bar saying "Ready".

There is no Acrobat Reader file to delete anymore in Reg settings. But even if there was I cannot tell customers to do that.
Adobe, this is embarrassing! Forget AI for a week and PLEASE fix the fundamentals!

Adobe? Video is only the most used format for modern communication....
Still doesn't work. Why doesn't adobe want to tackle this...

Is this a literal joke?  November 2022 and ADOBE of all companies can't support a video in a PDF?  What the F am I paying for, Adobe?

I totally agree with you on this subject.

I am a |Pro user since ver.3, now on DC Pro 15.

No matter how I encode my video it will not insert into a document and repeatedly asks for Flash Player which, of course, is no longer supported.

This issue is one reason why I will not subscribe to later versions of Acrobat.

"I am a |Pro user since ver.3, now on DC Pro 15.". So you froze on an old version, made 5 years before the switch from Flash. No wonder it doesn't work!

"This issue is one reason why I will not subscribe to later versions of Acrobat.". Ok, your call, but it would be easy to say, that 's the reason you DO need to subscribe.

I have this problem, contacted Adobe twice, by remote but after two hours the operator just disappeared without explanation or helping fix the problem, I saw that he/she had edited the regedit but still without success. Then just disappeared. I contacted again and anothe operator also asked for remote which I did explaining the problem again after several hours of back and forth he then deleted all my apps, then he also gave up... which left me to reinstall all my apps.. What is going on with adobe.. interactive pdf with indesign is pretty much useless, they no longer support flash, though I see a the Ajar plugin seems to have all the features and works, only that it is expensive, surely Adobe can incorporate the same functionality. I also tried to place video via adobe acrobat DC pro, and ended up with the same result, blackbox, no video and only the sound played... Any ideas, I object to paying a subscription each month for apps that don't work

If you are going to play the pitch document in front of the prospect, as a personal presentation, and it works, that's fine. But multimedia in PDF is now almost useless in the general case because other players don't do it. If you are sending the PDF to others to view, they will view it in a browser or Apple Preview or on a phone or tablet. In none of these cases will it use Adobe tech, and in none of those cases will a video work.

You're right. It won't work is 80% of cases. It will be for a face to face presentation and possibly a loom recording with me speaking to it, so as long as it works on my desktop I'm good. I looked into figma as a way to embed a video, which seemed like a complicated task, prezi had little flexibility with video, xd with anima plug-in maybe, but the presentation was first created in indd a while back... what would you use?

FYI - This does fix my issue, but the issue continues soon after, so you have to continually do this which is stupid.
