Hi
When I am editing text in some (not all) pdf files the characters are coming up like this: ١٥/٠١/٢٠٢٤ regardlesss of what font is selected

These are Hindi numerals (also used in Arabic).
Go to Edit - Preferences - Language and tick off the box next to "Hindi Digits":

Off-topic, these numerals are strictly used in Arabic text, these numerals aren't known in India. There is a historical story behind them, but yeah, these numbers are used in Arabic countries only. 🙂

And even more confusingly, the numerals used everywhere else in the world (1, 2, 3, etc.) are actually Arabic numerals (no longer used in Arabic), though...

True. To be honest, the numerals 1234 have continued to be in use in western Arab countries [Mauritania, Morroco, Algeria, Tunesia, and Lybia] while eastern Arab countries switched from originally Arabic numbers 1234, to Hindi numbes ١٢٣٤ somwhere in the ninth century if I'm not mistaken.

So it turns out....when I was receiving some (not all) pdf files (as attachments or downloads) the default text was set as Hindi. No idea why it is happening just with some files. Will investigate more.
