Question

When combining documents, the documents in the editing pane go blank

In Adobe, when combining documents the editing pane sometimes appears to "lose" content. It disappears from view, but the preview pane looks just fine. I'm afraid to combine documents that look empty. How can I fix this?

Here are my notes from attempting to resolve the problem:

  • When user combines documents the pages in the editing pane will lose content, but will show complete in the preview pane.
  • This causes the user (out of fear of creating a blank document) to close and reopen the document, which resolves the issue, but the user doesn't like that she has to perform the extra click for the combined .pdf to appear as normal
  • User has Adobe version 24.0020180
  • Repaired Adobe, no resolution
  • Could not find any actionable information regarding the user's issue online
  • Pending further investigation

Please let me know if further information is needed, thank you.

Hi @GSD3396728007ht,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble, and the delayed response.

In case you are still looking for a solution, you might want to try the below steps:

Clear Cache and Temporary Files

  • Sometimes Acrobat’s temporary files can cause display issues.
  • Steps:
    1. Open Acrobat.
    2. Go to Menu> Preferences > Documents.
    3. Under Save Settings, uncheck "Save As optimizes for Fast Web View."

2. Disable Page Display Enhancements

Acrobat’s rendering options can occasionally cause content not to display in the editing view.

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Menu> Preferences > Page Display.
    2. Under Rendering, uncheck "Use Page Cache" (if enabled).
    3. Also, change the Page Content and Information setting to "Show large images."

Also, ensure that you are on the latest version of the application (2024.005.20xxx) for the best experience.

To do so, go to Menu-> Help-> Check for Updates.
