Question

Which is better for accessibility - Standard or Pro?

I'm guessing the answer will be Pro, but I'm not having much luck finding a side-by-side comparison of the Accessibility feature set. Our organization is downgrading everyone to Standard, and I need to make the case for keeping my Pro license. I remediate PDFs and need to make accessible forms from time to time. Thanks for any advice!

Hello Marrit!

I hope you are doing well.

When evaluating Adobe Acrobat Standard versus Acrobat Pro for accessibility tasks, it's important to understand the capabilities each version offers:

Adobe Acrobat Standard:

  • Provides basic functionalities for making existing PDFs accessible.

Adobe Acrobat Pro:

  • Offers advanced tools essential for comprehensive accessibility, including:
    • Editing reading order.
    • Modifying document structure tags.
    • Utilizing the Touch Up Read Order tool for repairing accessibility issues.
    • Performing full accessibility checks.

For a detailed comparison of features, refer to Adobe's official comparison page and the Accessibility articles. However, no document provides a side-by-side comparison.
